Music is a ministry at Grace Lutheran Church. Our approach is prayerful and we view music as an offering to God, not a performance. Our music program exists to glorify God and enhance our worship services. We do not require auditions for anyone interested in joining one of our groups. If you are interested in any of the choirs or the praise band, please speak with the Minister of Music about attending a rehearsal. We are always looking for new members.
This is a list of all the opportunities available for those who are interested in becoming involved with the music program:
Chancel Choir
Ages: High School grades through Adult
The Chancel Choir leads our congregation in singing our praises to the Lord of all the nations. Weekly rehearsals are scheduled on Wednesday evenings at 7:00PM during the school year.
The Praise Band
The praise band rehearses once weekly during the regular schedule (September through May/early June) each Wednesday evening after the chancel choir rehearsal. The praise band plays each Sunday at our 8:45AM worship service and on special occasions. Our ensemble includes guitar, violin, clarinet, and various percussion instruments.
Grace Lutheran Church Orchestra
This instrumental group rehearses just prior to any service at which they play. They usually play for Christmas Eve, Easter Morning, and other occasional special services.
Special Music
Because some people are unable to make a regular commitment to attend weekly rehearsals for our Choir, but desire to share their musical talents as vocal/instrumental soloists or in ensembles, we offer opportunities for service in these areas. These opportunities occur mostly during the summer schedule (mid June through August) as well as during the regular schedule. Please see the Minister of Music regarding participation in the music program or providing special music.
