Music

Music is a ministry at Grace Church.  Our approach is prayerful and we view music as an offering to God, not a performance.  Our music program exists to glorify God and enhance our worship services.  We do not require auditions for anyone interested in joining one of our groups.  If you are interested in any of the choirs or the praise band, please speak with the Minister of Music about attending a rehearsal.   We are always looking for new members.

This is a list of all the opportunities available for those who are interested in becoming involved with the music program:

JAM – Jesus And Me / Cherub Chimes

Ages: all Sunday School aged children may participate in the JAM / childrens musicCherub Chimes

The children’s choir opens the possibility of worship leadership up to even our smallest children. These little ones bless us with their musical gifts. They usually rehearse weekly during the Sunday School hour and sings in worship as they are ready. Grace Church has a set of children’s handbells which are used several times a year by the Sunday School children in addition to singing.

Chancel Choirepiphany vespers

Ages: high school grades through adult

The Chancel Choir leads our congregation in singing our praises to the Lord of all the nations. Weekly rehearsals are scheduled on Wednesday evenings during the school year.

The Praise Band

The praise band rehearses once weekly during the regular schedule (September through May/early June) each Wednesday evening after the chancel choir rehearsal. The praise band plays each Sunday at our 9:00 a.m. worship service and on special occasions. So far, our ensemble includes guitar, violin, clarinet, and various percussion instruments.

Handbell Choir

Ages: high school grades through adult

The handbell choir adds a festive touch to many of the church’s holy days. Rehearsals are held on Sunday evenings during the school year.

Grace Lutheran Church Orchestra

This instrumental group rehearses just prior to any service at which they play. They usually play for Christmas Eve, Easter Morning, and other occasional special services.

Special Music

Because some people are unable to make a regular commitment to attend weekly rehearsals for our vocal and Handbell Choirs, but desire to share their musical talents as vocal/instrumental soloists or in ensembles, we offer opportunities for service in these areas.  These opportunities occur mostly during the summer schedule (mid June through August) as well as during the regular schedule.  Please see the Minister of Music regarding participation in the music program or providing special music.
